Completing the Electrical Systems major will enable students to rigorously integrate the mathematics of signals, systems and information with the science of electrical phenomena in the formulation and solution of problems in areas such as telecommunications, monitoring and automation, energy distribution, and digital computing. We aim to develop: scientific understanding of electrical phenomena as a basis for mathematical modelling and abstraction in analysis and design; problem-solving and design skills; the ability to construct simulations and laboratory experiments; and good communication skills. The major opens pathways that lead to accredited professional careers in electrical engineering (through the Masters of Engineering), as well as careers in applied mathematics, applied science, teaching, management and finance.
Electrical engineers design and build electronic devices on all scales – from nanoelectronics to nationwide power grids.
At Melbourne, our electrical engineers are developing energy-efficient telecommunication systems, smart work wear for people working in harsh conditions, and sensor networks that monitor the environment.
This major introduces you to the fundamental mathematics of signals, systems and information, and the physical science of electrical phenomena.

為來(lái)自中國(guó)的學(xué)生設(shè)計(jì) To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate degree you must fulfill all of the following requirements: Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an overseas qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12. English language requirements: TOEFL - Paper based test - a score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English. Internet based test - a score of 79 and scores of: Writing: 21, Speaking: 18, Reading: 13, Listening 13. IELTS (Academic) - an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. Pearson Test of English (Academic) - an overall score of between 58-64 inclusive and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 50. Cambridge English: Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - A Cambridge English Score of 176 with no skill below 169.
