The Bachelor of Biomedicine just got better. At the undergraduate level, the Bachelor of Biomedicine is ideal preparation for a career in medicine and professional health. While doing the Bachelor of Biomedicine has never been a compulsory or privileged path to the Doctor of Medicine (MD), it’s a good strategy – especially when you’re following your passion. The recently announced changes to the MD curriculum1 make this strategy more salient by providing you with a firm foundation in biomedical sciences.

The Bachelor of Biomedicine has the flexibility to deliver a range of outcomes. Students are more frequently selected into the Melbourne Medical program than those from any other program in Australia. Others follow pursuits such as dentistry, biomedical research or bioengineering, and a small but growing number combine the degree with graduate law, commerce or management.
Course description
The Bachelor of Biomedicine offers 14 majors across a range of biomedical disciplines. If you're interested in entering the health professions, Biomedicine is an ideal choice.
The Bachelor of Biomedicine prepares you for the challenges of healthcare delivery and biomedical research. At the core of the degree is knowledge of the normal structure and function of the body and consideration of the determinants of disease.
You’ll develop fundamental skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, the analysis of evidence and communication.
Course structure
Students must complete 300 points comprising:
- 225 points of core (biomedicine/science discipline) subjects including:
- At least 75 points at Level 1 including the compulsory subjects or approved equivalents.
- At least 62.5 points at Level 2 including the compulsory subjects or approved equivalents.
- At least 75 points at Level 3 including the compulsory subjects or approved equivalents and including the 50 points of a prescribed major.
- 50 points of breadth subjects including at least 12.5 points at Level 2 or Level 3
- 25 points (either biomedicine/science discipline subjects or breadth subjects) at Level 1, 2 or 3

為來自中國的學生設計 To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate degree you must fulfill all of the following requirements: Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an overseas qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12. English language requirements: TOEFL - Paper based test - a score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English. Internet based test - a score of 79 and scores of: Writing: 21, Speaking: 18, Reading: 13, Listening 13. IELTS (Academic) - an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. Pearson Test of English (Academic) - an overall score of between 58-64 inclusive and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 50. Cambridge English: Advanced/Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - A Cambridge English Score of 176 with no skill below 169.
