Combine your passion for mathematics with the skills, knowledge and practical experiences required for secondary school teaching.
This four-year dual program allows you to combine your passion for mathematics with the qualifications to become a secondary teacher. You'll benefit from a thorough preparation for your teaching areas, combined with – and informed by – professional studies in the area of education.
The education component offers school-based learning and draws on the latest research into effective teaching methods, ensuring you graduate well-prepared for secondary school teaching, or training in business or industry. It's a challenging and rewarding career, with secondary school teachers in demand worldwide.
In the mathematics component, you'll choose from a wide range of courses in mathematics and its applications. In your first year, you'll study essential topics in calculus, linear algebra and differential equations. In later years you can select from more specialised courses that emphasise new ideas in mathematics and include recent applications in coding and cryptology, mathematical physics, mathematical biology, bioinformatics and finance.
Pure Mathematics
This major is focused on the intrinsic nature and fundamental properties of mathematics, and recognises its ubiquity, universality and beauty.
You'll develop high-level skills in critical, analytical and abstract thinking, and study frameworks for deeper understanding of other areas of mathematics, such as applied mathematics, mathematical physics and statistics.
You'll also have the opportunity to acquire a solid grounding in the key areas of pure mathematics, as well as opportunities to undertake focused study in advanced courses.

English Language Scores: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 AND a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section; CAE/CPE: Overall Cambridge English Scale (CES) score of 176 with a minimum score of 169 in each skill; BE: A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all four macro skills.
