Develop the skills and knowledge you need to get a head start in an engineering career that requires specialist skills and adaptability, or to give you the edge when applying for a higher degree by research.
This 5-year program is designed to give you an overall education in engineering as well as specialist knowledge in fields such as civil or software engineering. You'll graduate job-ready with a comprehensive knowledge of engineering and a range of practical skills.
You'll undertake a full-time placement with industry or a research institution either in Australia or overseas, and complete advanced coursework and project work in your final year. You'll also undertake a supervised master's thesis on a relevant topic and be involved with all aspects of research, including defining a research question, establishing a methodology and reporting on your findings.
Fourth-year students have the opportunity to study overseas with the European Double Degree program. This allows you to learn from some of the best engineering and technical teachers in the world, and graduate with an additional master's degree from one of our partner universities.
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
This dual major combines courses in mechanical engineering with additional specialist study and project work in the aerospace and aviation industry.
Aerospace engineering is concerned with the design, manufacture and operation of aircraft, launch vehicles, satellites, spacecraft and ground support facilities.
You'll study aerospace propulsion, design and manufacturing and then specialise in either the aeronautical or space engineering streams.
You can study topics including flight mechanics, aerospace composites, space engineering, hypersonic aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics.

To be offered a place in an undergraduate program, you need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12, or a qualification equivalent to Queensland Year 12, with the required minimum entry score for the program you're interested in studying. English Language Scores: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 AND a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section; CAE/CPE: Overall Cambridge English Scale (CES) score of 176 with a minimum score of 169 in each skill; BE: A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all four macro skills.
