專業(yè)概況
在這里學什么? For centuries, both English and Russian-speaking cultures have had a profound international influence on literature. This programme aims to develop your critical, analytic, linguistic and creative skills by engaging with a broad range of texts in both Russian and English, and a variety of approaches to reading. Through intense language training and a year in a Russian-speaking country, you have the opportunity to learn to read, write, speak and translate Russian to a high standard while gaining the broad cultural education prized by graduate employers. Specialist options include courses in Russian literature, Russian language and society, Russian politics and post-Soviet culture and society. After a period of political, social and economic transformation, Russia is playing an increasingly important role in global politics and, as the world’s largest country, has its fifth most widely spoken language. On this joint programme, you’ll learn the Russian language in the context of Russian culture, past and present. Likewise, our English Literature curriculum explores the cultural contexts of writing in English from the late middle-ages to the present day. By enhancing your unique literary and critical faculties, the programme prepares you to contribute to a society in which an understanding of texts of all kinds is crucially important.
