專業(yè)概況
在這里學(xué)什么？ For centuries, German-speaking cultures have had a profound international influence. In Europe, more people speak German as their native language than any other, and the language ranks in the World Top 20. While learning German to a high standard (both written and spoken), this programme will enable you to explore and compare historical and cultural developments in the German-speaking world from different perspectives. We offer an exceptionally wide range of courses, covering periods from the early Middle Ages to the most recent past, and a rich variety of approaches. This will enable you to critically appraise topics such as: - German identities - Encounters with non-Germans - Nationalism and anti-nationalism - Nature and culture - Minority cultures - Migration in the German-speaking world You can choose to take courses in the history of other cultures and civilisations, from ancient Rome to the modern United States, and in the history of science, Western medicine, and architecture. The University has excellent resources for the study of History and German, including access to unique archival sources within the Library’s Special Collections. Historians also benefit from the research materials afforded by the great collections based in the city, including the National Library, National Records, National Galleries and National Museum of Scotland.
